Swimming Pen Creek Elementary School

Military Family Resources

Swimming Creek  Elementary School  supports our military connected students and families

The Military and Family Life Program(MFLC ) is designed to provide additional support to our military-connected students, and to address the unique lifestyle of military families. With written consent, CYB-MFLCs provide high-quality, non-medical counseling at no cost to you. Benefits to students include easing transitions, meeting other military children who share similar circumstances, learning coping skills, academic assistance, support in place during Deployment Cycles, circumstances unique to our Military Families and of course, just having fun together with children that share some similar life experiences. (Deployments and relocations just to name a few).

The MFLC program is available for students of Active Duty, Wounded Warriors, survivors of deceased service members and recently (Less than 180 days) Retired/Discharged military families. This program is a prevention and education program, which offers non-medical and non-clinical counseling should stressors arise. Your child does not need to be in distress or have any specific concern to join and participate in our activities. If a serious concern is present, our MFLC can refer your child/family to the appropriate resource options.

All military parents/guardians can sign a consent form for this free service. Enrollment is always open. Please remember your child cannot participate in Lunch Bunch Activities without the signed permission/consent form.

Child and Youth Behavioral Military Family Life Counselors (CYB-MFLC) have advanced degrees  in the mental health field and specialized training in child and youth development. CYB-MFLCs support the needs of children and families by partnering with parents, faculty, counselors, and staff to foster healthy growth and social skill development. The well-being and safety of your child is our top priority. To ensure a comprehensive continuum of care for your child, CYB-MFLCs may work in collaboration with school or program professionals.

MFLCs help with topics such as self-esteem, bullying, behavioral problems, deployment and reintegration, relationships (including divorce), grief and loss, and problem-solving. CYB-MFLCs may use coloring books, journaling, age-appropriate psychoeducation materials, classroom observation, one-on- one non-medical/non-clinical counseling, and group non-medical/ non-clinical counseling to meet the needs of the military-connected child.
